Abbeyhill

Taking its name from the nearby ruins of Holyrood Abbey, Abbeyhill is one of the oldest parts of the city. It is a mostly residential area made up of classic Edinburgh tenements. You’ll be close to Holyrood Park where you can take a hike up Salisbury Crags and the extinct volcano Arthurs Seat. You will also be close to Calton Hill with its epic views over the city. The area is full of independent bakeries, eateries, bookshops and second-hand record shops. 

After a seriously good coffee at Fortitude or neighbourhood coffee shop Little Fitzroy, get lost browsing books at the wonderful Topping & Company Booksellers; and after a day of exploring, satisfy your hunger with a burger and poutine, washed down with a cocktail at the chilled Down the Hatch.
